Owner Insights

We analyzed real musician discussions from forums and Reddit to find what players love, question, and tweak about YAMAHA MG102C.

User experience

  • Owners note that the XLR and line inputs on the first four channels should not produce hiss; a clear signal indicates potential issues if hiss is present.

    Source
  • Long-term users praise the Yamaha MG102C for its consistently clear and crisp sound quality, highlighting its reliability over several years of use.

    Source
  • Some owners find that the MG102C's capabilities are sufficient if you're fine with summing inputs to a stereo bus, focusing on simplicity over individual track control.

    Source

Build quality

  • Some users feel the Yamaha MG102C is flimsy and might break easily, indicating a potential concern for durability.

    Source

Features and functionality

  • The MG102C is noted for having a limited number of effect sends, which some users find restrictive.

    Source
  • The MG102C sums all inputs to two outputs, or three if the aux is pre-fader, limiting its use in DAW setups requiring individual track separation.

    Source

Comparisons

  • The Yamaha MG102C is compared to the Mackie mixers, with owners suggesting Yamaha offers better value under $100 for small synth setups.

    Source

    Source
  • The MG102C's preamps are compared to Behringer's ADA8200, with some users noting the latter's Midas preamps may offer superior sound quality.

    Source
  • The Behringer XR18, although more expensive, offers 18 inputs and 8 outputs, making it a more versatile option for those needing extensive DAW integration.

    Source

Use cases and applications

  • Ideal for small synth studios, the MG102C is appreciated for its sufficient input options at a budget-friendly price.

    Source
  • The MG102C is more suited for live applications than recording setups needing multiple separate inputs due to its output limitations.

    Source

Value and pricing

  • While second-hand options exist, the Yamaha MG102C is highlighted as a worthwhile purchase at around 100 pounds, especially when compared to other entry-level mixers.

Perfect for a no frills Live Electronic Music Producer

This compact mixer may not look very elaborate, but it's got a lot going on! On top of the ability to manage eight input sources (four via XLR inputs), the Yamaha MG102c fits into countless studio and live situations. Need to run a drum submix? The MG10c will do it! Running sound for a small event? No problem! But wait, there's more! The two mono mic channels are equipped with Yamaha's 1-button compressor, a flexible dynamics processor that takes the guesswork out of one of the most misused concepts in audio. You'll find a million and one uses for this great mixer, and at this price, there's no reason not to have a Yamaha MG102c!

Great little mixer for the price

The Yamaha M-10 doesn't have supermany channels, but for home studio recording, it's great. It has all the features you need, and it sounds great.
