Owner Insights

We analyzed real musician discussions from forums and Reddit to find what players love, question, and tweak about Behringer Xenyx X1222USB.

Features and functionality

  • The Xenyx X1222USB provides a two-channel USB output that mirrors the main mix, not individual tracks, limiting multitrack recording capabilities.

    Source
  • Highlighted is the Tascam Model 12 as an alternative, offering 12-channel USB interfacing, Bluetooth inputs, and a built-in SD card recorder, unlike the Xenyx X1222USB.

    Source
  • The USB output is pre-fader, allowing post-production volume control but not live mix adjustments via the main faders.

    Source
  • The SCM268 offers ultra-simple operation with four mic inputs, one aux input, and two outputs, including a balanced XLR, perfect for basic setups.

    Source

Comparisons

  • Compared to Scarlett interfaces, the Xenyx X1222USB lacks individual track recording, making it less suitable for detailed multitrack projects.

    Source
  • The Yamaha MG12 mixer is praised for its compact size and lack of unnecessary features like effects or USB, offering a streamlined alternative to the Behringer X1222USB.

    Source

User experience

  • One owner switched from the Xenyx X1222USB to a Mackie mixer due to quality control issues, indicating potential reliability concerns with the Behringer model.

    Source
  • LEDs on the X1222 can be slightly audible in the output signal when the main output faders are at 0 dB.

    Source
  • Users caution about potential feedback issues when using handheld mics like the SM58, highlighting the importance of proper mic handling over mixer choice.

    Source

Value and pricing

  • The resale value for the Xenyx X1222USB is estimated between $100-$150, significantly lower than its new price of around $279.

    Source

Use cases and applications

  • The mixer is often used for recording live sets to a computer, leveraging its USB capabilities for straightforward stereo outputs.

    Source
  • Ideal for live sound recording or streaming, but consistently adjusting output gain can be challenging for dynamic environments like church services.

    Source
  • Effective for capturing single-track recordings or two-track stereo recordings by panning hard left and right.

    Source
  • The SCM268's simplicity and durability make it ideal for straightforward, reliable audio routing in hotel conference settings, despite lacking EQ controls.

    Source

Build quality

  • The SCM268 mixer, a suggested alternative, features a robust build with real transformers on inputs and outputs and a replaceable power cord, unlike the Xenyx X1222USB.

Good

Sounds good, can record direct into the pc and dont have much problems

BUT I dont recommend that much for recording, only sends L/R signals so, if you want to record 12 things at the same time for a track, well... Can be a problem

If you want to use for record only live gigs or dont want it just for recordings, works great
