The Fatar keyboard is awesome. Especially for that price. For this I'm thankful to Modal.
But the sound engine is... oh well... very digital: sharp and very clinical. Even later updates didn't change that. It's good for background sounds but it's nowhere near synths like Virus which are also digital and very old. I expected more from this synth but at least the keyboard compensates it. I'm using it only as a master midi keyboard.
It sounds better than I expected. Fat, alive, solid, bold. Making basses and leads with this synth is simply a pleasure. It's not super versatile but with a bit of sound design, it can do more than one could expect by looking at the parameters/interface. I have plenty of other analog synths but not one of them is as fat as Odyssey. Not even 2600.
2 Pole filter is where the magic is. USually I prefer 4-pole filters but this one is simply magical.
Any weak spots? Yes: the digital effects section. It's super gentle to the point that it's useless. It's also mono but it has a ping-pong effect... Oh well, it's better to forget that those effects exist.
