Description
The Behringer RD-9 is a masterstroke of nostalgic engineering, merging the beloved punch of the iconic TR-909 with cutting-edge features for today's music creators. This analog drum machine boasts 11 distinct voices, including a thumping bass drum and sharp hi-hats, allowing you to craft beats with the warmth and depth that only analog can deliver. The RD-9 is not just about recreating the past; it pushes boundaries with two modes: Authentic and Enhanced. While Authentic mode gives you the classic 909 feel, Enhanced mode unlocks new dimensions—like tuning and modulation controls for the bass drum and hi-hats, adding fresh layers to your sound palette.
For the producers and live performers, the RD-9 comes with a robust 64-step sequencer that supports real-time triggering, step and note repeats, and track soloing. This makes it a versatile tool for both intricate studio creations and dynamic live performances. The Pattern Mode lets you link patterns into complete songs, while the Song Mode can chain these songs together, creating a seamless set for live gigs. Add to that the automatable dual-mode filter and Wave Designer, and you've got a sound-sculpting powerhouse.
Syncing up with your studio gear is a breeze thanks to comprehensive connectivity options, including USB, MIDI, and trigger outputs. Whether you're recording each drum voice individually or need to sync with modular setups, the RD-9 has you covered.

- 11 analog drum voices with individual tuning, level, attack, and decay controls

A Dream Come True!!!
I'm a huge fan of Kurtis Mantronik and his use of the Roland TR-909 on records by his group Mantronix, as well for other artists such as Tricky Tee, Just-Ice, and T-La Rock. The TR-909 drum machine has an amazing sound that sticks no matter what situation you place it in. This is what I consider a Holy Grail of drum machines.
Then comes along Behringer with the RD-9, which is a faithful recreation of the TR-909, This was my opportunity to finally inject that sound into my records so of course I jumped on it as soon as it was announced and I'm so happy that I did because the RD-9 is so punchy and it has a great feel. Behringer did their homework and delivered!

Amazing
I could make music with perfect 909 samples but its not only the sound that this thing gives you, the workflow is totally different, i make way more interesting drum tracks using this than if i would just program samples on my computer. Oh and dont forget to mention its the ultimate budget GABBA MACHINE, turn it to 200bpm and put some distortion on the kick boom you got a gabba tune in seconds.
Preferred Settings + Usage:
kick output to distortion and leave other sounds clean

Excellent!
This beast sounds amazing! I don't know how it compares to an original and I don't really care - this has been immensely useful in just the few weeks that I've owned it. I usually track this with a 1073 EQ type preamp. Pushed just a little and it's magic!

Easy to use and great sound
It lacks a bit of rawness in the sound which is easily solved with a distortion pedal.. if you could record the sounds on the fly in the sequencer and increase the steps of the song mode.. it would be perfect..
