Allen & Heath Saber Mixer (SOS Jun 89)

muzines.co.uk

The Allen & Heath Saber mixer is a versatile and handsome console aimed at medium-sized studios. Its modular design and extensive EQ options make it a solid choice for those seeking flexibility. The console's MIDI mute system, though limited to mutes only, is intuitive and user-friendly. The Saber excels in aesthetics and layout, providing a professional image crucial for studio clients. However, some minor drawbacks include the lack of programmable mutes on auxiliary sends and a slightly noisy main output. Despite these, the Saber stands out for its price range, offering a well-rounded set of features and a quiet operation that competes well within its class. Overall, a strong contender for studios looking to upgrade their mixing capabilities.

"This here's an Allen & Heath 16-track Saber mixing desk. They are a really good English company who actually replaced all the faders a year ago when I had some trouble with it. It doesn't have automated mixing but it has MIDI muting, which helps."
