A compact, affordable metal pedal with more range than its size suggests. The Fatal Tube’s standout trick is its unusually flexible gain structure: separate Drive and Gain controls let you fine-tune smooth sustain versus crunchy breakup, while the Contour knob nudges the scooped modern-metal voice toward a more mid-forward, ’80s-flavored lead tone. For players chasing heavy distortion without being locked into one flavor, that extra shaping is a real asset. The catch is physical, not sonic: the knobs sit too tall and turn too easily, making accidental setting changes all too likely when stomping the switch. Still, with solid reliability, strong sound quality, and a low price, this one comes off as a small-box winner with a frustratingly fussy control layout.
