Owner Insights

We analyzed real musician discussions from forums and Reddit to find what players love, question, and tweak about Arturia V Collection 6.

Use cases and applications

  • The V Collection allows users to modify presets extensively, making it ideal for those who want to adjust parameters like filter cutoff or LFO rate for precise sound shaping.

    Source
  • Analog Lab 4's UI is preferred by some users over the newer AL5 due to its more traditional navigation, favoring those not using touchscreen interfaces.

    Source
  • The DX7 emulation is praised for its accuracy in replicating FM synth sounds effectively, making it a standout in the collection.

    Source

Value and pricing

  • Strategic upgrading during Arturia's sales can reduce costs significantly, with users suggesting waiting for a 50% off deal to maximize savings on upgrades.

    Source
  • Annual upgrade pricing for V Collection is approximately $100, providing a cost-effective way to access new instruments and features.

    Source

Software and compatibility

  • Arturia's updates to existing synths, like the Jupiter, result in new synth installations rather than overwriting existing ones, preserving older project compatibility.

    Source
  • Different V Collection versions can coexist on the same system, allowing users to choose between older and newer synth versions without losing presets.

    Source
  • Frequent crashes occur when using multiple V Collection synth instances in parallel on Ableton 12.1, suggesting potential software instability.

    Source
  • Arturia's early emulations were criticized for issues like aliasing and filter artifacts, but updates have improved their usability significantly.

    Source

Features and functionality

  • Upgrading V Collection doesn't replace older versions; new versions are installed alongside, allowing access to both iterations of instruments like the Jupiter.

    Source
  • Analog Lab presets often include effects like reverb/delay that can't be fully disabled, which may not fit all mixes.

    Source
  • Arturia's V Collection includes enhanced "dream" versions of originals, such as a polyphonic Moog Mini with 32 voices and an arpeggiator.

    Source

Comparisons

  • Synclavier V and Emulator II V are highlighted as standout instruments within the V Collection, being praised as some of the greatest software instruments.

    Source
  • The U-He Repro 5 is noted for a thicker, fuller sound compared to the Prophet 5 in Arturia's collection.

    Source
  • The Legend Minimoog emulator often receives more praise than Arturia's version for its authenticity.

    Source

User experience

  • Some users find it frustrating that Analog Lab presets can't be precisely adjusted, highlighting the advantage of V Collection’s full instrument control.

    Source
  • Some users note that analog emulations feel thinner in tone compared to the originals, especially noticeable on studio monitors.

Arturia V Collection 6 - Review - Failed Muso Failed Muso

failedmuso.com

Arturia's V Collection 6 is a powerhouse suite of virtual instruments, offering seamless integration and a rich variety of sounds that cater to diverse musical needs. Highlights include the innovative CMI V and Buchla Easel V, which add unique textures to the collection. While the Clavinet V may feel underwhelming, the overall package delivers impressive value, especially when paired with an Arturia KeyLab controller. Upgrade pricing may deter some, but the enhancements and new instruments justify the cost for dedicated users. A must-have for any serious digital musician seeking comprehensive sonic tools.

Arturia V Collection 6 review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

Arturia V Collection 6 impresses with its authentic emulations and value, offering classic keyboards and synths at a reasonable price. Highlights include the DX7 V, which faithfully captures the original's sound, and the Buchla Easel V, which adds unique sonic possibilities. The CMI V enriches the collection with iconic digital synths. However, the absence of rhythm-based instruments and a direct sampling option for CMI V are noted drawbacks. Overall, this update solidifies Arturia's package as a must-have for those seeking a vast array of vintage and digital synth sounds.

Arturia V Collection 6 impresses with its expanded roster of meticulously crafted synth emulations like the Buchla Easel V and CMI V, delivering authentic sound and playability. While it's a treasure trove for synth enthusiasts, the demanding CPU usage is a drawback for those on older machines. Great collection gets greater

Great collection. Originally got V Collection 4 and got a lot of mileage out of the Yamaha CS-80, Oberheim Matrix-12 and Solina emulations in particular. Looking forward to playing with the DX7, CMI Fairlight and Synclavier emulations now!

I use it everyday in every track

It's like having a wall full of synthesizers in your hard disk waiting to be tweaked. I love what Arturia had achieved.
