The ICON D-Control by Avid

The Avid ICON D-Control is a high-end modular control surface designed for professional Pro Tools recording, editing, and mixing environments. Introduced as part of Digidesign’s ICON system, it became an industry-standard console in major music, film, and broadcast studios thanks to its deep integration with Pro Tools HD systems. The D-Control features touch-sensitive motorized Penny & Giles faders, dedicated EQ and dynamics sections, advanced surround monitoring, and customizable channel control layouts for fast, tactile workflow operation. Its modular architecture allows expansion from 16 up to 80 physical faders, making it suitable for everything from music production to large-scale post-production facilities. The included XMON monitoring system supports up to 7.1 surround sound monitoring and advanced studio communication features such as talkback and cue mixes. Although discontinued, the D-Control remains respected for its reliability, ergonomic design, and extensive hands-on control capabilities.
