Use cases and applications

  • Works effectively for soundboard pickups without onboard pre-amps when connected to the PA side of an acoustic amp via XLR.

    Source

    Source

Comparisons

  • While not comparable to high-end options like the LR Baggs Paracoustic DI, it's noted for its budget-friendly feature set.

    Source

User experience

  • Owners find it effective for cutting offensive frequencies, but it won't completely transform a cheap acoustic amp's sound quality.

Watch the 'blend control on this preamp

I have 2 of these Berhinger Preamps and they are terrific for pickups without preamps - BUT BEWARE - the "BLEND" knob is a let down. Its supposed to blend in a modeling function but after about 10 minutes of use, with the blend at 1/2 to full - it clips in quite an ugly way. I use this for non-preamped pickups like K&K in my octave mandolin. Sound is good, strong EQ function - but leave the blend off.
