Description
Darkglass Microtubes X: Your Compact Powerhouse for Bass Distortion
No longer does bass distortion need to be a challenge. The Darkglass Microtubes X has taken on the battle and emerged victorious. This compact yet powerful pedal offers a solution to the age-old problem of achieving aggressive bass distortion without sacrificing fullness or richness of sound. It's all about the balance, and the Microtubes X has nailed it.
The genius of this pedal lies in its dual variable low-pass and high-pass filters that split the signal right at the beginning. The high-pass signal, carrying mainly treble and mids, gets the distortion treatment via the CMOS circuitry, reminiscent of the older Microtubes pedals. The low-pass signal, carrying all the bass, remains untouched. This lets the high signal bring the crunch and harmonics, while the low signal adds depth and size to the mix.
The result is a sound defined by unlimited fullness, size, aggression, and definition, unaffected by the age of the strings or the boomy or thin nature of the instruments. With its compact form and easy-to-use controls, it's nearly impossible to dial wrong with the Darkglass Microtubes X.
Key Features:
- Dual variable low-pass and high-pass filters for optimal signal splitting
- CMOS circuitry for distorting the high-pass signal

Finally found the one that works for me.
After going through a variety of different bass overdrives, (B3k, VMT, Tech 21 DP-3x, Ibanez TS9B) I think I have found the one to give me my sound. I prefer multi-band distortion to a blend as I don't want the bottom end to get distorted too much. (Nor do I like hearing the clean top end in the sound) This knocks that job out of the park and then some. The range is really impressive too. You can get just the top end for like a Kings X sound or dial the HPF a little lower in the midrange so you get a little bit of a fuzzier Ampeg type sound when needed. Only downside is that the two small HPF and LPF knobs are basically impossible to see. But this sounds so good that it's worth the struggle.
