It employs the same dynamic saturation circuit and 4-band EQ and balanced line driver that has put Darkglass on thousands of bassists' boards. Yet, the addition of two mid-frequency selector switches and the innovative Grunt and Attack controls give the V2 unparalleled tonal shaping abilities. The V2 boasts two carefully voiced mid frequency buttons that determine which mid frequencies are being affected. It offers versatile features and a flexible design that lets you mix the clean input signal with the overdriven signal for fine control of the blend ratio. This pedal is designed for both studio and live use, taking your direct sound to a whole new level.

The bass overdrive/preamp pedal that YOUR bass rig needs!
Whenever we talk about Darkglass, the very first bass player we can associate this brand to is Adam Nolly Getgood. Everybody knows Nolly, right? The bassist from Periphery, the legend who changed the way bass guitar tones are supposed to sound. The B7K mark 1 made its debut in Periphery’s second album, “This Time It’s Personal.” By combining an 1176-style compressor with the B7K, Nolly has managed to create this gigantic bass tone that bridges the gap between bass guitar and electric guitar. By combining bass speaker cabinets with guitar speaker cabinets, Nolly has managed to recreate studio bass tones into a live environment, perfecting the way bass tones support high-gain metal guitar tones.
So what’s with the B7K mark 2? In the mark 2 version of the B7K, we now have selectable frequencies to adjust the low-mids and high-mids. You can select between 500 Hz and 1 kHz for the low-mids, and between 1K and 3K bands for the high-mid frequencies. This way, you’re able to truly hone in on the frequencies that you want to tweak. Other than that, most of what you see on the mark 2 are usual suspects – bass and treble knobs, drive, level and blend knobs to adjust how much distortion you’re blending into your dry bass tone, mid-boost switch and a grunt switch to really shape your guitar sound.
So what do I think of it? I think that this pedal is a fantastic piece of equipment. Not only did it help me perfect my metal bass tone combined with the MXR KFK EQ pedal and the Darkglass Alpha Omega Ultra preamp, it also helped to shape my dream bass tone as well. I can certainly see why so many metal bass players would preach by the Darkglass brand.
If you’re a metal bassist who needs something to juice up their tone, take a serious look at the Darkglass Microtubes B7K. Combined with a proper 10-band EQ, it’s THE metal bass overdrive and preamp that YOUR bass rig needs.
Preferred Settings + Usage:
Blend slightly above 12 o'clock, Level and Treble at noon, Drive OFF, Low and High-mids 1 o'clock, Low-Mids 2 o'clock, Grunt at RAW Mode, Mid-Boost FLAT, Midrange switches at 1K and 3K respectively.
