Description
Introducing the DiMarzio DP103/DP223 36th Anniversary PAF, a humbucker that transports you back in time with its vintage tonal quality. This pickup is meticulously designed to replicate the magnetic field of a 1959 Les Paul's humbuckers, allowing your strings to vibrate longer while producing a crystal-clear, single-coil-like definition.
The DiMarzio 36th Anniversary PAF boasts a level of responsiveness that musicians crave, easily transitioning from clean to dirty tones with a subtle change in your pick attack. Its 42-gauge custom-coated wire places the pickup's frequency response right in the sweet spot, resulting in a tone that's sweet, warm, and clear. This pickup is dipped in DiMarzio's custom formula to eliminate squeal and microphonics, providing a smooth, noise-free performance.
Whether you position it in the neck or bridge, this pickup performs equally well, delivering a bright single-coil mode without sounding sterile. Experience the dynamic vintage-voiced performance of the DiMarzio PAF 36th Anniversary bridge pickup, a true homage to the legendary humbuckers of the past.

Extremely articulate neck pickup
It's mounted on my Gibson SG on which I had a variety of pickups: Alnico II Pro, P94 and the Gibson 490R that originally came with it. This is by far the best neck pickup I've had on it. It's full, not muddy, articulate and precise. And yet it's warm, too. DiMarzio managed to bring everything you can expect from a neck HB. I'm delighted and highly recommend it.
Preferred Settings + Usage:
I use it paired with a Norton.

This is actually a tad better than a SH-1, at least if I compare them in the neck position (I have both on different guitars). It's cleaner, more articulate. SH-1 is not as muddy as an Alnico II Pro (note that this "muddiness" has its charm, too...) but it's still darker than the PAF 36th.

Legendary paf tone at a decent price!
Not much to say except for the price its one of the best PAF's you can get, the sound is rich and clear. very responsive to pick attack. Smooth and not muddy, I highly recommend these in the neck position.

"Apparently Cobain developed a taste for Fender guitars just prior to recording Nevermind. "I like guitars in the Fender style because they have skinny necks," said Cobain in a late 1991 interview. "I've resorted to Japanese-made Fender Stratocasters because they're the most available left-handed guitars." During this period, he also acquired a left-handed '65 Jaguar that had a DiMarzio Super Distortion humbucker in the bridge position and a DiMarzio PAF in the neck position in place of the guitar's stock single-coil pickups. These modifications were made before Cobain purchased the guitar."

They're pretty close to each other but the PAF 36th anniversary is a tad brighter and more articulate.
