Description

The 2A80B Vintage Limiter by DuKane Medallion

The Dukane Medallion 2A80B is a vintage analog limiter/compressor designed for professional broadcast and studio audio processing. Originally produced by the Dukane Corporation around the late 1960s–1970s, it combines a compression amplifier with an integrated automatic noise gate. The unit uses a discrete transistor/FET-style design that provides strong dynamic control while maintaining analog character. Its built-in noise gate automatically reduces background noise when no signal is present, helping keep the signal path clean. Because of its aggressive limiting behavior, it is sometimes used creatively as a “smash box” compressor in vintage audio setups. Today the 2A80B is mainly found in vintage broadcast equipment racks or used by audio enthusiasts for its classic analog dynamics processing.
