In an Instagram photo, Nick Hook showcases his Ensoniq DP/4 effects processor, highlighting its role in his studio setup.

In a studio tour video titled "Studio Tour with Todd Edwards Producer - Scion Musicless Music Conference 2011 Scion AV (Reupload)," a small glimpse of an Ensoniq DP/4 used by Todd Edwards can be seen at the 50-second mark.

In a feature by MusicRadar, Steffi showcases her studio, highlighting the Ensoniq DP/4 for its reverb and creative effects capabilities.

Found within his rack, the Ensoniq DP/4 is a effects processor widely used in both old and new tracks produced by Silver Disco. More notably, the flanger and phrasers of the unit can be heard on top of stems, samples, and vocals when listening to some of his music.

J'utilise aussi depuis peu un DP4 (stéréo multi-effets), il permet de coupler des effets, on peut faire rentrer une réverbe dans un flanger qui, lui, rentre dans un delay, et ainsi de suite… Ça donne des sonorités vraiment très intéressantes et les possibilités sont immenses. Il ne m’accompagne pas en live (en solo du moins), mais c’est un très bon nouvel allié au studio!

What are your rigs like – what guitars and pedals were essential to the sound of A Distant Call?

Kyle: We tracked all the guitars through my Marshall JTM 60 1×12 combo and a 4×12 Fender DeVille, pretty much just my normal live rig. I still don’t use much in the way of pedals in the studio, just a ProCo RAT on some songs and a TC Electronic Mimiq for some doubling.

You’ll probably notice a lot of shimmery chorus and some 80s Judas Priest turbo-style distortion. All of those come from this really cool Ensoniq effects rack we bought. I couldn’t tell ya what the model is, but it’s packed with sweet over-the-top effects which are fun to use.

hiya! I don't use a ton of pedals really, live just a Boss EQ, Xotic EP boost, Boss super chorus, Boss EQ and a RAT (I dont think its one of the super good RATS). Gets the Job done, but when recording, I've been liking my TC Mimiq pedal as a doubler ran stereo into 2 amps. It varies pitch and delay slightly and sounds real thick.

A lot of the wild guitar sounds on the new record come from a Ensoniq DP/4 that we bought for the studio :]

1. Ensoniq DP/4

This is always on one of the FX sends from the mixer. It’s on all of the tracks in this EP (and most of my tracks). I don’t go that deep with programming it — although I know it's possible. I just use the different preset algorithms on it -- usually the reverb ones. It always just sounds good. It’s kind of warm and raw sounding to me, and just does what I need it to do without being too obtrusive.

In this article, kryptogram mentions using the Ensoniq DP/4 on some of his music. He says “ I’m super-proud of my Ensoniq DP4 as well – it’s a vintage effects processor that I’ve used a lot on the last EP. I was obsessed with that French house phaser/flange sound, so I had to get it.”
