Fender 1963 Relic Stratocaster Fiesta red

Lovely guitar. Of all the old ones Ive owned the one I think is least worth investing in is the Strat. Not because the old ones aren't great. They are incredible. Its just the reissues are now so darned amazing that you don't need to shell out the big bucks. Trust me Ive owned a refinished 57, two all original 1963s, a 1962 slab board and a bunch of relics, reissues and seventies ones.

The new fender heavy relics are the dogs wee ones. Hard to better. I tried four in chicago music exchange including a 1964 original. The fifties relics won out. Looks, tone, feel and weight were all better than the old one and they cost a quarter of the price.

I do not care for any mid 60s strats I play.... pretty much once the burst has the defined rings they just do not sound as good as the earlier ones, and then when they ditched the slab board it seems like the playability got worse for my preferences viz-a-viz neck feel etc
