Known as the "Sticker Strat". The white Fender Stratocaster famously covered with stickers played by Tom in the 1990s.
Tom DeLonge used a 1994 40th Anniversary American Standard Fender Stratocaster from Oct 1994 to sometime in the Fall of 1997. The guitar was purchased sometime around Oct 1994 right after Cheshire Cat was recorded. It can be seen with barely any stickers in this footage from blink playing SOMA on October 7th, 1994 right after Cheshire Cat was recorded. Tom eventually switches to his red made in Korea Squire Stratocaster midset.
Video Oct 7 1994 SOMA Show: https://youtu.be/rh1vlEu3hbI
The guitar was covered in stickers over the years and the stock pickups were removed. The Oct 7th 1994 SOMA video shows the stock bridge single coil replaced with a Seymour Duncan JB Jr, and the neck single coil replaced with a Seymour Duncan hot rails, leaving the middle single coil pickup as stock.
Eventually the bridge pickup was replaced with a white DiMarzio X2N set at an angle, and the Seymour Duncan black JB Jr. was moved to the middle pickup position with the neck pickup still using a Seymour Duncan black Hot Rails pickup. This is the most famous configuration of the guitar's pickups. The stock saddles were also replaced at one point with Graphtech saddles, sometime in 1995 or 1996. The DiMarzio X2N is the pickup heard on They Came To Conquer Uranus EP, Lemmings EP, Dude Ranch, I Won't Be Home For Christmas, and live recordings during 1994-1997. Contrary to popular belief, this guitar was NOT used on Cheshire Cat. His red made in Korea Squire was. I have photos I can use on that submission's guitar.
Sometime in Fall 1997, The DiMarzio X2N was been replaced with Seymour Duncan black Invader pickup and Seymour Duncan JB Jr. also replaced with Seymour Duncan Lil' Screamin' Demon pickup. This is the current configuration of the guitar as seen in the photos linked on Imgur below. Also in Fall 1997, right before being retired and replaced in use by 1997 Gibson Les Paul Standards, the guitar was de-stickered and recovered with shapes/patterns cut from black electrical tape as well as the bunny's of a blink-182 sticker at the time.
As of September 2021, I sent Tom's tour manager a set of accurate stickers to resticker the guitar to it's former glory. He started to de-stickered the bunny stickers and electrical tape but has not restickered it yet.
I'm attaching some photos his tour manager shared of the guitar in it's current electrical tape state as well as after he took the electrical tape off. You can also see the serial number on the headstock which will date it and identify it as a 1994 40th anniversary edition Fender American Standard Stratocaster.
