Description
The Fender Custom Shop SRV Tribute Stratocaster is more than just a guitar; it’s a homage to the legendary Stevie Ray Vaughan and his iconic “Number One” Strat. Crafted with precision and dedication, this instrument is designed to capture the essence of SRV’s fiery Texas blues sound. The hand-wound Texas Special single-coil pickups are at the heart of this guitar, delivering a powerful midrange chirp, bell-like highs, and tight bass that will make your licks sing with the spirit of the Lone Star State.
The SRV Stratocaster features a 2-piece alder body, known for its balanced tonal characteristics, and a riftsawn maple neck with a deep, thick Oval "C" shape. This neck, paired with a 12"-radius rosewood fingerboard and 21 jumbo frets, offers a fast, comfortable playing experience. The reversed tremolo and SRV-emblazoned pickguard add authentic flair, while the NOS nitrocellulose lacquer finish gives the guitar a pristine, vintage look.
Every detail of this guitar speaks to its tribute nature, from the eye-catching gold hardware to the inclusion of a deluxe hardshell case, strap, and certificate of authenticity. John Mayer acquired the Fender Custom Shop SRV Tribute Stratocaster - Sunburst in 1996. He traded a Takamine 12-string acoustic and a Mesa Boogie distortion pedal for it, paying the difference with earnings from his gas station job. Initially, John used this guitar for practice at home and during his time at Berklee College of Music. The guitar is notably featured in a photograph taken by Eddie Malluk during Mayer's performance at the Crossroads Guitar Festival on June 6, 2004.
Álvaro Henriquez used the Fender Custom Shop SRV Tribute Stratocaster during a performance with Los Tres at Teatro Caupolican on November 28, 2010. In the video provided by Archivo Nacional on YouTube, he can be seen playing this guitar while performing "Me Arrendé" from the album "Fome." Link here: https://youtu.be/l7ubKiybo8Y
In this photo from a show in 2007, you can see Joe holding an SRV tribute Strat with a different pick guard or the name scratched off. It is clear that is an SRV tribute because it has the reversed bridge, gold hardware and SRVs name on the headstock.
