Fender Player Series Jaguar Review - Premier Guitar

premierguitar.com

Fender's Player Jaguar Pau Ferro strikes a chord with its well-crafted body and versatile tones, thanks to the coil-tap humbucker. While the guitar excels in delivering shimmery sounds and modern playability, it does suffer from some notable drawbacks: strings occasionally pop out of the saddles, and the fret ends can be rough. These issues detract from an otherwise solid build and setup. Ideal for budget-conscious musicians, this Jaguar offers a delightful mix of vintage charm and contemporary features, making it a strong contender for those exploring offset guitars.

Fender Player Jaguar review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

Fender's Player Jaguar is a versatile and playable guitar that cleverly reimagines the classic design with an appealing HS pickup configuration and a Mustang bridge. Its short scale makes it a breeze to handle, complemented by a smooth pau ferro fretboard. However, the coil-split tones can feel unbalanced and lack the punch expected, especially in clean settings. While it shines with distortion, the hollow middle position may be less appealing for some players. Overall, this model offers a solid mix of vintage charm and modern functionality, making it a worthy contender for Jag enthusiasts, despite its tonal quirks.

Fender Player Series Jaguar guitar review - The Gadgeteer

the-gadgeteer.com

With its iconic offset body and comfortable neck, the Fender Player Jaguar is a joy to play, offering a versatile sound thanks to its humbucking and single-coil pickups. The build quality feels solid, and the stunning Tidepool finish is a visual treat. However, the rear strap mount angle can be problematic, potentially leading to strap issues during energetic performances. Despite this minor flaw, the Jaguar's playability and tonal range make it a compelling choice for musicians looking for a unique and reliable instrument. If you're drawn to its look and feel, it's definitely worth trying out.

Great for the price

Although the pickups sound decent the single coil and humbucker are naturally fairly unbalanced which is made even worse by the coil split. Once you learn how to set your amp correctly to even it out a bit and pickup height, it improves a lot though. Needs an aftermarket bridge and trem too, really.
