Mods and upgrades
-
Owners have modded the SX-150 Mark II with a MIDI control kit from beatnic.jp, though tuning accuracy beyond an octave can be an issue.
Source -
One user attempted to control the SX-150 externally by connecting the stylus to various CV outputs, but encountered issues without a trigger or gate signal.
Source -
Users recommend considering a MIDI to CV converter for better external control, as direct CV inputs from other synths may not function effectively.

User experience
-
Playing the SX-150 is likened to a theremin in terms of skill required, due to the difficulty of keeping the stylus on the ribbon track.

Cute and simple
The SX150 doesn't do too much sonically except make rough squeeky and bleepy tones , but when you circuit bend it to have CV-in functionality it opens a whole world for cool experimental compositions especially when using its dirty analog filter . In its un-modified state Its definitely a great synth for beginners or people who are just starting to get into synthesis or even those who just like to tinker with things that make weird sounds
Preferred Settings + Usage:
control voltage modification (3.5mm jack) for pitch sequencing

Gakken SX-150 Mark II Analog Synthesizer
First time when I saw one of these little machines was in Jonny Greenwoods photo. From then I've been wondering about it.Finally I ordered one from amazon.I believe this one is better then first version. It comes completed and works fine.I'm not pretty sure about making music with this little analog synthesizer but it is a fun toy.If you use it with some looper you might get nice tunes I guess.
