In the mid-70s, Allan Gittler -a New York designer- wanted to take a concept to the minimum expression, also to demonstrate to his fellow builders that that of sustain and wood was sovereign nonsense. So he made a guitar in which wood does not exist.

Starting with a stainless steel frame as if it were a fish bone, he placed up to 31 frets, individual pickups for each of the strings, weighing less than 2 kg and a revolutionary micro-tuning system (most likely this system it was the inspiration for another innovative guitar, the Steinberger). One of these Gittlers was acquired by Andy Summers (The Police) and can be seen in the Syncronicity video. Some of them can be seen in prestigious museums of modern art.
