A Jackson JDR-94 guitar in black that was stage, music video, and studio used by Daisy Berkowitz. The guitar is also signed in silver marker “Daisy Berkowitz aka Scott P. 2014.” The back of the guitar has an SMF (Sick Motherfucker) sticker affixed. Berkowitz used the guitar to record Marilyn Manson’s 1994 debut album Portrait of an American Family. He used it to record parts of the song “SLC” and also used it during the 1996 Antichrist Superstar sessions. This is one of three guitars used during the filming of the 1994 “Lunchbox” music video. Berkowitz additionally played the guitar extensively on stage while on tour with Marilyn Manson in 1995 and 1996. Accompanied by a hard guitar case covered in various stickers by Berkowitz, who has signed it “Daisy B WAS HERE!! 1994 2014.” In 2014, Berkowitz sold the guitar to a friend in Canada named Jo-Jo, who passed away in 2018, just eight months after Berkowitz died, and the guitar was then sold by Jo-Jo’s husband. In a letter Berkowitz wrote to Jo-Jo in 2014, he recalled, “One of my retired beloved Jackson’s, this one, the Japanese engineered JDR-94. I bought this at the beginning of ’94 from the Guitar Centre on Sunset Blvd when we relocated to LA from FL to redo The Manson Family Album, which then became Portrait of course. I first used this to re-record certain guitar parts at Record Plant and the Tate house. I mainly intended for it to be one of my main studio guitars but I also had it on the road with me for the two years of touring that followed: Spiral tour, Portrait, Danzig and Smells Like Children, in conjunction with my RGX, Dinky, Soloist and Del Ray. This Guitar (and all aforementioned) contributed to Smells Like Children and Antichrist Superstar at Nothing studios. It is also one of the three guitars I used on set for the ‘Lunchbox’ video, during the various takes we shot with the great Rich Kern.”
