Jackson JS12 Dinky review | MusicRadar

The Jackson JS12 Dinky impresses as a starter guitar with its quality construction, defying its budget-friendly price. It's a great buy for beginners, boasting a responsive playability that aids learning. The high-output humbuckers deliver solid performance despite some cost-cutting in hardware like the pickup selector and tuners, which feel flimsy. While the guitar could use more treble for better note articulation, it shines with clean tones. Overall, the JS12 offers superb value, making it a commendable choice for newcomers to electric guitars.

Amazing instrument, relatively affordable for most and does the job for everything.

Only gripes - no coil split, and the Trem is very tight. Otherwise, beautiful finish and amazing playability.

Preferred Settings + Usage:

Neck is great for high gain chugga-chugga, but also some fat and pretty cleans. Same goes for middle position. neck is better with gain than it is with clean, but a very versatile sound overall.

What a bargain!

This is the cheapest guitar in my collection and it still plays awesome. I did buy it in impulse and I sold it, but it’s a great deal.

Schecter Damien-6

$525.00 - $599.00

high-end alternative

The Damien is a HH guitar, in my opinion it seems better because a) no tremolo therefore better tuning stability and b) Coil split! so you can still get that single coil sound. Aside from the electronics, the scale length is still 25.5" [and has the added Bat inlays (cause it's badass)], it still has 24 jumbo frets, with a Graph Tech nut, and it comes stock with Ernie Ball Slinkys.
