Amazing synth, inspiring
This is a synth that truthfully makes textures and tones that no other synth will. It's a bit of a modular, and bit of a sequencer with a lush reverb built in. This is the kind of synth you can use to get new ideas when you're stuck.
Only down side is it is a bit complex and sometimes feels "random" when you make connections or change parameters just because it can be unorthodox. This synth is better at making ambient tones for existing tracks, or lead and bass lines on new tracks where the idea of the track is open to experimentation. It could be difficult to dial in a specific sound you have in mind for a track that's further down the production road.

Not easy to integrate in every project but I love this synth.

Kwerky little toy.
It encourages exploration and doesn't hold your hand. Definitely not for sound design amateurs. The downside unfortunately, you can hear the crystal clarity of digital synthesis.

In the video titled "Nine Inch Nails - Alessandro Cortini Live Rig" by Sonicstate on YouTube, at 11:41, Alessandro Cortini explicitly mentions his use of the Madrona Labs Aalto plugin in conjunction with his Madrona Labs Soundplane.
I am always looking for the right balance between staying simple with the equipment and exploring new options: like new plug-ins, new software etc. For a while I had too many options in the studio; it was too much; I didn’t know where to start. I have been downsizing and now have a setup that works for me. I think it is more important to have good speakers than a lot of compressors. Though, I recently discovered the software modular synthesizer Aalto. It’s fantastic. I have been working with it a lot lately and I do program that.

"Aalto is like a small Buchla, semi-modular in design and consisting of unusual modules such as a waveguide delay line and repeating envelope."
