late period roland goodness
on the whole this guy gets the whole JX8P vibe down.... sluggish envelopes but thick oscillators and great LFOs, this guy is a pad and string champ! Really nails that sound where roland was still pushing the last gen of analog while Yamaha's DX line and the Emulator were trying to bury analog forever. If you want that late 80s sound for free get Dexed, Phutura and this fella and have at it. Free plugins aren't always junk.... some of them hold their own with anything available commercially and this certainly falls into that category. I use it more and more.
Best free VST
It's the best free plugin for me and I use it for almost every production. There are tons of free sound banks to download. Everyone should have it in their DAW.

A brilliant and free emulation of a mid-80s Roland classic
A faithful recreation of the classic JX-8P by Roland which was released in 1985, PG-8X can not only be used as a standalone VST synthesizer bit it can also be used to control a real JX-8P. PG-8X also supports patches that were designed for the JX-8P. Considering the fact that this synthesizer is free, it is well worth adding this synthesizer to your toolkit.

A lack of presets means you need to learn how to program it. That's a good thing! If you know what you're doing you can get some great sounds out of it. Very underrated in my opinion.

The best virtual version of the Jx8p
I use this plugin in every track because it has that 80s Roland lushness that I absolutelly love ! (It's like a 1:1 virtual copy of my trustful Jx8p !!)
