Dominates over the Roland Space Echo. It IS an instrument. 201 is an effect.
Just as described-Dominates over the Roland Space Echo. It IS an instrument. 201 is an effect.
Loads of video examples online & you'd do better to listen than read but selectable tape heads, "sound on sound", etc. basically it's far more customizable than the Roland 201- that's why I called it an instrument. You can shape, deform, etc. There are pedals/plugins that do similar things-I have some I collected before I had a back up of the Multivox-Soon as I did, my road gear included 2 of the Multivox Tape Echos...nothing else could do what it does to my ears.
SUMMATION? You play THRU a Roland 201, but the Multivox? You both play THRU & PLAY the Multivox itself. God I love this thing.

the features are closer to a chorus-echo, but the other great thing about the multivox units is they sound REALLY good.

Forgot to mention the sound quality-Thanks!

I suspect they have better tape heads.... I never possessed a roland, korg or multivox at the same time to really investigate.

I did at one point have shoot out with the Roland & the MultiVox- Put the Space Echo up on CraigsList & Ebay the same day. I had fun with a Watkins Copicat but it was too temperamental. Fulltone's tape echo sounded great but not as versatile for my uses.
