MXR Custom Shop Micro Amp+ Review - Premier Guitar

premierguitar.com

The MXR CSP233 Micro Amp Plus is a powerful update to a classic pedal. With its +26 dB boost and added bass and treble controls, it offers impressive adaptability and near-clean boost capabilities, making it ideal for various tonal needs. While it doesn't produce as much distortion as typical overdrives, it excels at maintaining the amplifier's natural voice and adding dimension to your sound. Some might crave more gain, but its intuitive design and versatile tone-shaping make it a valuable tool for studio and live settings. Overall, a reliable and effective tone-sculpting pedal.

You can really carve out certain frequencies. You can either use it as a great treble boost, or add a great low end thump on your tone.

"For amps, we used a Marshall YJM plexi 50w mode bridged over and all knobs pretty much on full. We used the MXR Carbon Copy Analog Delay and the Phase 90. For leads, I used an MXR Micro Amp + to get extra juice, and we also did a lot of experimenting with the Way Huge Supa-Puss Delay, which lets you distort the feedback. That created some really cool psychedelic stuff. For strings, I used Dunlop Electric 10-52s, and for picks, I used 1.5mm Tortex Sharps."
