ultimate-guitar.com

The Peavey JSX Joe Satriani Signature Amp Head stands out as a premier choice for metal and rock enthusiasts, delivering exceptional versatility with its three independent channels and robust build quality. Praised for its sparkling cleans and ample gain, it caters to a variety of styles, though the lead channel might offer more gain than some users need. The amp is pedal-friendly, reliable, and built to endure the demands of gigging, albeit on the heavier side. While a boost pedal is recommended for optimal performance, its sound quality and durability make it a worthy investment for serious players.

ultimate-guitar.com

The Peavey JSX Joe Satriani Signature Amp Head impresses with its versatility and robust sound quality, making it ideal for a wide range of musical styles. The clean channel is crystal clear and takes pedals well, while the Crunch and Ultra channels offer powerful distortion options, with the 'fat' switch adding depth. The amp is reliable, well-built, and its 120-watt power is more than sufficient for gigs. However, it lacks a reverb feature and may not sound as good at low volumes compared to when cranked up. Overall, it's a superb all-tube amp head for musicians seeking a versatile and high-quality sound.

What an amp !!!

This amplifier is really great, and it’s versatility is more than excellent ! You can play any style with this amplifier and the clean sound is really great ! And with the 2 channels you can play any kind of distortions with this amplifier ! I wonder how they doesn’t sells more ( or it’S alter ego the Peavey XXX ii because it’s so much better than the 6505. I had a Peavey 5150 foe 20 years before i bought this one used and it’s so much better : The distortions are better, and the noise gate is excellent the only thing missing is a reverb but with a Hall of fame you got an amplifier that will last you another 20 years !

I play through a Peavey Joe Satriani (JSX) signature 120W head, running 6L6 tubes as well. I used to play Mesa Boogie but switched to the JSX about 4 years ago when I heard the clean tones and warmness the amp gets. This is the reason I keep my gain around 6-7 and mids around 5. Heaviness doesn’t come with gain.
