Owner Insights

We analyzed real musician discussions from forums and Reddit to find what players love, question, and tweak about Pioneer DDJ-SX3.

Features and functionality

  • The SX3 offers six dedicated Serato FX knobs, which are not present on the 1000SRT, appealing to Serato users seeking direct control.

    Source
  • The DDJ-SX3 features three microphone inputs, which is an upgrade over the SX2's two, providing more flexibility for events requiring multiple mics.

    Source

Comparisons

  • While the 1000SRT features larger rubber-coated platters, the SX3 is favored for its Serato-specific controls, making it a better choice for those focused on Serato DJing.

    Source
  • The DDJ-REV 7 offers LCD screens on jog wheels and an instant scratch feature, but the SX3 performs similarly without these extras, making it a cost-effective choice.

    Source

Use cases and applications

  • The SX3 is ideal for home practice, house parties, and local bar gigs, providing sufficient functionality for intermediate DJs needing more than two channels.

    Source
  • The SX3's dual USB ports are praised for seamless transitions between DJs or for using multiple DJ software without interruption.

    Source

Build quality

  • The SX3 has been described as durable, surviving spills and heavy use, although this may be attributed to luck.

    Source

Software and compatibility

  • The transition from Serato to Rekordbox is noted as manageable, making the SX3 versatile for different software preferences.

    Source
  • Users report potential software issues with the SX3 when using Serato's Stems feature, where tracks may play at full volume unexpectedly during transitions.

    Source

User experience

  • Some users find the SX3's size cumbersome for transportation but acknowledge it's still easier to carry than traditional turntables and vinyl.

    Source
  • Some owners suggest upgrading a computer rather than the controller to resolve performance issues, emphasizing the importance of keeping firmware and software updated.

    Source

Value and pricing

  • It's suggested that the SX3's discontinuation might be due to its high functionality at a relatively low cost, making it a highly valued option in its class.

Amazing controller

I've been using this controller for over a year now and i couldn't recommend it more, exceptional build quality, its ability to be used as a standard mixer allows me to use it as more than just a dj controller. I use the sx3 with Traktor and it works perfectly after a little midi mapping.
