Use cases and applications
-
The K10.2 speakers, paired with a sub, are effective for outdoor events up to 150 people; larger audiences require additional support.
Source -
The K10.2s are recommended primarily as stage monitors or for small, low-SPL events rather than as main PAs for rock bands.
Source -
For a full band mix including kick and bass, additional subwoofers are necessary as the tops alone lack sufficient low-end output.
Source -
When using Yamaha keyboards, some recommend engaging the built-in preamp by switching the QSC input to "instrument" to boost lower output signals effectively.
Source
User experience
-
Some owners experience heat issues, with fans reportedly breaking easily, causing the speakers to act up over time.
Source -
Older Yamaha DSR models are considered robust workhorses, though their age might affect longevity; $500 each is a reasonable price if well-maintained.
Source -
It's been reported that Yamaha keyboards may have lower line outputs, requiring additional gain when connected to speakers like the QSC K10.2.

Comparisons
-
The QSC K10.2 and K12.2 speakers share identical loudness, differing only in dispersion and low-frequency capabilities.
Source -
The JBL SRX series, especially the SRX712, is preferred by some users for its sound quality over the QSC K series.
Source -
Yamaha DSR112 speakers, with original drivers, reportedly outperform the QSC K series in volume, though require equally powerful subs for balanced sound.

Features and functionality
-
Users note a harsh and resonant tweeter sound at high SPLs, which becomes more pronounced in the K.2 series compared to the original K series.
Source -
The QSC K10.2's Channel B offers a Hi-Z input, which can be beneficial for instrument-level inputs like guitars, potentially enhancing signal strength for keyboards.
Source
Value and pricing
-
A set of QSC K10 speakers priced at $1400 may cause regret if not opting for the K10.2 model, which offers enhanced features and reliability.

Simply the best for gigging musicians
There isn't a powered speaker that I've heard that treats vocals and guitars better. I've ran these at house concerts, wine bars, street festivals and corporate parties. Not great at 100% volume without a sub, but with a sub, they just sing.
The DSP bass switch coupled with the vocal boost has been plenty for weddings and even DJ gigs. I use mine every weekend. Worth every penny.
If they had phantom power I wouldn't even bring a mixer to most small gigs. But with my A&H ZED, they sound incredible.
