Description

Streamline your studio sessions with the Radial Cherry Picker 4-channel Preamp Selector, an indispensable tool for any recording enthusiast aiming to achieve the perfect match between microphone and preamp. Designed to enhance studio efficiency, this innovative device allows you to seamlessly switch between up to four preamps, ensuring you find the optimal sound character for each track without the hassle of reconnecting cables.

With its passive 'straight wire' signal path, the Cherry Picker ensures that your audio remains uncolored and pristine. This is achieved through its use of military-grade gold contact sealed relays, which guarantee zero distortion or coloration, offering a clear and honest comparison between preamps. Ideal for vocal recording, the Cherry Picker helps provide singers with a more natural and balanced sound, ultimately leading to enhanced performances.

On its well-organized rear panel, you'll find a balanced XLR input for your microphone and four balanced XLR outputs to connect your preamps. This unit also features internally generated 48V phantom power, allowing smooth transitions between preamps without disrupting the microphone's power supply, thus preventing audio pops that can disrupt your session. Each output is equipped with a separate ground lift switch to eliminate noise from ground loops, and a handy mute switch lets you silence all outputs, preserving your settings while exploring other microphone options.

Key Features:

  • Four 'radio style' selector switches for quick preamp selection
  • Passive design with a 'straight wire' color-free signal path
  • Military-grade gold contact sealed relays for zero distortion
  • Balanced XLR input for microphone and four balanced XLR outputs
  • Built-in 48V phantom power for condenser microphones
  • Separate ground lift switches and mute function for convenience

Radial Gold Digger & Cherry Picker

soundonsound.com

Radial’s Cherry Picker is a sturdy and versatile solution for audio routing, showcasing military-grade relays and a robust build. It allows seamless switching between four outputs without signal degradation, making it ideal for studio comparisons. However, its reliance on a wall-wart power supply is a drawback, and the button-release switching can lead to brief muted periods that might unsettle live situations. While it shines in functionality, those quirks might frustrate some users. Overall, it’s a well-engineered tool for serious audio professionals, albeit with a few design compromises.
