My favorite neck humbucker

I've had it mounted on my Gibson SG a few years ago. I wasn't so impressed at first but it has grown on me over the years. It has a smooth, spongy bass response which I find extremely appealing. I don't use it much live but it is a wonderful pickup to record songs with. In particular, it is ideal for playing arpeggios and open chords. I recently changed the bridge pickup to have a better matching set. I used to have a Pearly Gates but I did not like it. I found it lacking in bass and treble response, it was all mids and not much else. I chose a Bare Knuckle Old Guard to replace it (as this is an Alnico II, too) and the two pickups seem to have been made for each other. I highly recommend both but especially the neck pickup, which is incredibly good and a great match for a Gibson SG.

I love this pickup. This is an even sounding pickup that really brings out the tone from my Gibson Les Paul Standard.

This pickup is great paired with a Pearly Gates bridge with a Gibson Les Paul Standard. You can hear the wood resonate. The bass response is tight and defined. The midrange is punchy, but it could be better if there was a little more midrange. The treble is clear and transparent. The treble isn't shrill and distinguishes the neck pickup from the bridge. The bridge versions of this pickup are great and the Slash model is the hotter version of this pickup.
