old school, tons of headroom, tube warmth.

Sound city custom built mark 3 is tube (valve) amp made around 1969. It can be used with guitar, keyboard and bass guitar. Really huge wall of sound, awesome saturation, yet with clarity. Great headroom, lots of options for cabs.

does yours have an active EQ circuit? I know all the mk4s but the bass120 do, but mk3s are really transitional from the hiwatty designs that preceeded them....

its a really sound city specific design, if you turn all the EQ controls to zero you will get NO SIGNAL

yes, that is the thing. but i saw that also on some other amps, i think they might be based on sound city (later hiwatt) tech.
