In later years, Rick Parfitt transitioned from using Gibsons to playing the Status Graphite Slipstream. In a YouTube video featuring Status Quo performing "Backwater" and "Just Take Me," Parfitt praises the Slipstream for its wonderful balance and solid feel, especially the neck. He mentions that although it has a more modern design, its neck profile is reminiscent of his cherished white '62 Telecaster. Parfitt describes the Telecaster as heavily strung and rarely handled by others due to its challenging playability.
