A very beefy VCA design.

Pretty much the compressor section of the notorious 501. Anywhere you don't need that vicious limiter, this will do the job. You can use this wherever you would use a dbx 160x. Its thicker and excels on bass and kick. You can get away with a 150 on kick without a bass boost post a lot of times and you may not even want to run the kick in parallel. These are getting pricier but are still a solid value. There's also a CL100 but I prefer the 150 personally. The 100 is more like half a 522 with better peak detection. But either is a good buy.
