Aclam Dr. Robert Review - Premier Guitar

premierguitar.com

The Aclam Guitars Dr. Robert pedal delivers strikingly authentic Beatles tones, making it a dream for fans seeking that vintage vibe. Its build quality is top-notch, and the intuitive control layout enhances usability. On the downside, the price tag of $320 might deter budget-conscious musicians. While it's a superb homage for Beatles enthusiasts, those preferring more modern styles may find its niche less appealing. Overall, if you're chasing classic mid-60s Vox sounds, this pedal is a worthy investment, albeit a costly one.

Alcam Guitars Dr Robert amp-in-a-box overdrive review | Guitar World

guitarworld.com

The Aclam Guitars Dr. Robert pedal artfully captures the essence of classic Beatles tones, delivering a versatile drive with stunning fidelity. Its wide range of drive sounds and unique design—complete with vintage-style graphics—make it a visual and auditory treat. However, the price tag might deter some, positioning it as a premium option rather than an everyday pedal. If you’re chasing that vintage Vox sound, the Dr. Robert is a worthy investment, but casual players might find it a bit extravagant for their needs.

Aclam Dr. Robert

guitarinteractivemagazine.com

Aclam Guitars' Dr. Robert overdrive pedal delivers superb, characterful tones that evoke the legendary sound of The Beatles. Its "Mach Schau!" circuit adds a unique boost, allowing for rich, expressive playability. While it shines with vintage vibes and surprising gain, modern tone seekers may find it lacks versatility for contemporary styles. Despite this limitation, its ability to replicate the essence of rare Vox UL730 amplifiers makes it a captivating choice for tone enthusiasts. Overall, the Dr. Robert impresses with its inspiring voice, making it a worthy addition for those chasing classic rock sounds.

Way Better Than I Could Have Hoped

I purchased this as soon as it was available because I love the idea of this pedal... “Revolver” and “Pepper” had such unique tones. But having Mr. Voorman doing this amazing artwork was the kicker... so I got on the email list to be notified as soon as it was available to order. I received it quickly (one week turnaround from Barcelona) and plugged it in right away. I was very pleasantly surprised. I did a quick video for a friend playing, “She Said, She Said” which I will try to include here. The video doesn’t quite do it justice... but the gist of the pedal is that the initial sound is as amp like as you can get, but when you turn the “Mach Schau!” gain on it has an amazing distortion tone, but both settings react with your volume knob beautifully. I bought this as a collector and will never use this live, so now I’m hoping that they will make a version without the art so I can feel good about taking it out of the house and/or putting it on one of my boards. All in all this is as good of a drive pedal as any “holy grail” or “unobtainium” on the market today or anytime.

voxkev

Definitely interested in seeing a demo of this- the samples on the company's youtube site are intriguing, and altogether too short (and playing the same sample in every video).

Much more versatile than promoted

I bought it after watching their video. I love the Beatles and wanted that tone. It’s a Vox UL70 in a box and it does that. Mess with it a little and maybe couple it with a TS circuit in your chain, and it can do SO MUCH MORE. You can get straight up Neil Young Danger Bird sounds put of it, and just good overdrive. The Mauch Shaw or whatever it’s called button can produce close to Op amp fuzz too. Buy it for the cool Beatles stuff but you can use it for much much more.
