Critic Reviews

UVI Falcon 3 review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

UVI Falcon 3 is a powerhouse of sound design, boasting an impressive array of oscillators and effects that cater to nearly every synthesis need. The revamped scripting and modulation options elevate its capabilities, making it a versatile tool for musicians. However, the user interface can be overwhelming, and some users may find the sonic structure less intuitive. Notably, there were stability issues during testing, causing crashes in Logic. Despite these drawbacks, Falcon 3 remains a formidable choice for those seeking comprehensive sound creation in one package.

UVI Falcon 3.0 - the Synth and Software Review - Synth and Software

synthandsoftware.com

UVI Falcon 3.0 delivers an impressive array of sounds and deep synthesis capabilities, making it a powerhouse for serious musicians and sound designers. Its vast library of 1,500 presets provides an excellent starting point, and the sound design tools are robust and versatile. However, the steep learning curve and non-intuitive user interface can be daunting, requiring considerable time spent with the manual. Additionally, the premium price tag may deter casual users. While Falcon 3.0 is undeniably powerful, its complexity necessitates a commitment to mastering its many features. For those ready to embrace the challenge, Falcon 3.0 is a worthy investment that truly soars.

UVI Falcon 3 review: sending your sound design to new heights

musictech.com

UVI Falcon 3 is a powerhouse of sound design flexibility, boasting a versatile architecture that allows for a multitude of synthesis techniques. Its user-friendly interface and improved workflow make it accessible, while new oscillators and effects enhance its sonic capabilities. However, the complexity can be overwhelming, even with helpful templates and organizational features. Color-coding improvements could further streamline navigation. Despite these challenges, Falcon 3's extensive presets and add-on sound banks justify its premium price, making it a worthy investment for serious music producers.

Steep learning curve but SO WORTH IT.

Falcon is basically every possible synth instrument you could want, with literally unlimited flexibility and programmability, a smorgasbord of incredible effects, and an incredible assortment of routing and mixing options... all packed into a not particularly friendly user interface.

Wait, don't run away. First, understand that UVI Falcon is more than just a "load a preset and play" synth plugin. Of course you can do that. And the quality of sounds is absolutely top rate. Second, be aware you can also buy dozens (hundreds?) of expansion packs for it, to have easily tweakable, well-known sounds at your fingerprints.

But Falcon is really at its heart a truly complete sound designer's palette.

Of course it does all the things you'd expect, like analog oscillators, noise generators, additive and wavetable synthesis, and provides a burly sampler to boot. But it also includes drum and pluck generators, granular and multi-granular synthesis, slice, stretch, and scrub modules as well. It's absolutely awesome to have all of this power in one tool. Of course, it can be scary to beginners (trust me, I feel like I still am one!) to get used to the tree model that Falcon works with.

You can stack and map any number or variety of oscillators onto any keygroup mapped to your keyboard.

Each keygroup can be adjusted for splits or layers of course, and you can have an unlimited number of them in a layer.

You can have as many layers as you want in a part.

Then you can combine as many parts as you want in what's called a Multi.

At all these levels, you can also choose to have LFOs (including parametric), multi or step envelopes, envelope generators, AD/ADSR/DAHDSR... It's mind boggling. Oh, did I mention there are close to 100 effects you can stack to your heart's content -- including truly epic reverbs and delays, tape and tube saturation, crunch and distortion, bass and wave shaping, diode clipping, and killer EQs, compressors, and limiting? Did I further mention that you can rig up macros with unlimited control potential across as many parameters as you like, at any level you like? IT'S INSANE.

Again, the one drawback is the interface is very... well, nerdy. Probably because it's designed by people who are huge sound nerds. And $deity love 'em for it. Yes, it looks (and probably sounds) complex, but once you see some YouTube videos, it starts to make sense. UVI have created the absolute ultimate tool for making sounds, BAR NONE. You are literally only bounded by your imagination and CPU power. They'll get my UVI Falcon when they pry it from my cold, dead, MIDI controlling hands.

best. BEST.

there are several powerful plugins in the market where you can find anything you're looking for. uvi's falcon is one of them. a drum sequencer for experiment loops with weird sounds, or a synthesizer to say hello to bob moog.. falcon is enough. product mechanics with unlimited options, high-level sound quality and wide library expansions are my favorite features. might be the best sampler i've ever used -or i may have exaggerated. try and look. for instrument libraries like guitar or strings, i recommend use to kontakt. and you should take a look at falcon for everything else. honestly, FOR EVERYTHING ELSE.

Preferred Settings + Usage:

idk. its perfect.

Pretty amazing

But very deep and takes work to really understand but it also has some wonderful expansion packs where someone else does the work for you which I depend on. It is very easy to use for splits and layers and multiple instruments though and sounds great with some amazing unique effects. I probably use Kontakt more because the libraries I love tend to be that format but for anything more electronic this is very good! The Orchestral library for UVI is adequate but doers not compare to say Spitfire or Berlin Orchestra.

It is the Swiss Army knife of all soft synths

This multipurpose synthesizer has pretty much helped me with my work in making Electronic music. I love making my basic Growl sounds as well as close to human speech, which sounds like transformers voice anyways, as well as ambiances, etc. This will not replace something like Serum, Massive, or FM8, as I have worked with these so much, but this is more of an addition to this.

On a side note, I would like the modulation to be like Serum/Massive. That would be a huge plus.

Amazing but not easy to use

Amazing sounddesign possibel, but not easy to use. Programming is complicated, but the possibel sounds are mind blowing!

Hybrid VSTI

A hybrid sampler(both classic multisamples and granular)/virtual analog/FM/Wavetable instrument with effects, modulators, almost unlimited possibilities. I am just scratching the surface but it is capable to make very complex sounds using multiple parts/layers/keygroups with its own mixer. It even can be programmed with LUA scripting. The automation and outputs can also assigned freely when using in a DAW. It is compatible with UVI's other soundbanks.
