Owner Insights

We analyzed real musician discussions from forums and Reddit to find what players love, question, and tweak about Victory Amplifiers VX The Kraken.

Features and functionality

  • Victory VX The Kraken MKII features dual master volumes, allowing users to switch between rhythm and lead tones using the footpedals included with the amp.

    Source
  • The MKII version includes a shared clean and gain 1 channel, which improves versatility compared to its predecessor that struggled with clean tones due to gain issues.

    Source
  • The FX loop is always active when cables are connected, as there's no bypass feature, which may influence setup decisions for effects chain management.

    Source
  • The Kraken's simplicity in control layout makes it easy to dial in desired tones, contrasting with more feature-rich amps.

    Source

Comparisons

  • The MKII model adds a presence control knob, enhancing tone shaping compared to the first version of The Kraken, which lacked this feature.

    Source
  • Gain I delivers punchy dynamic high-gain Marshall sounds that some users find lacking in Mesa amps like the Mark V and Rectoverb.

    Source
  • The Victory Kraken is described as having a darker tone with a unique midrange that excels in a mix, offering a vintage quality despite being a high-gain amp.

    Source

Use cases and applications

  • The Victory VX The Kraken MKII is praised for its ability to produce nastier metal tones compared to the Engl Ironball E606 Special Edition.

    Source
  • Despite being marketed as a high-gain amp, the Kraken is praised for its versatility and ability to handle non-metal genres effectively.

    Source

User experience

  • Gain I is notably quieter than Gain II, even when cranked, with Gain II described as noisier and prone to squealing at high volume levels.

    Source
  • Owners note the Kraken's sound as reminiscent of a Soldano mixed with a JCM900, but with added gain, providing a distinct tonal profile.

Amazing amp. More versatile than you would think.

Great sounding amp. Surprisingly versatile. I highly recommend to anyone looking for a rock/metal amp.

Channel 1 is superb!!

I permanently added a AMT pangaea to the amp so that i can go directly go ito the mixing desk. Channel 1 is simply amazing, ultra dynamic and full. But im not so much a fan of the second channel, too midrangey for me.
