    Source
  • Using a power soak, like the Bugera Power Soak, can enhance tone by allowing higher volume settings on tube amps like the AC30.

    Source
  • An AC15C2 is praised for its suitability for home studios and small gigs, offering great tone without excessive volume.

Use cases and applications

  • An AC30 is deemed too loud for typical home studio use without soundproofing or a built-in attenuator.

    Source
  • The amp has been used effectively with a Danelectro guitar featuring lipstick pickups, resulting in a unique, super fuzzy tone.

    Source
  • An AC50CPH paired with a Gibson Firebird and boosted with two Big Muff pedals can achieve a loud, sustained tone suitable for sludge punk genres.

    Source

Vox Classic Plus AC50CPH Head And V412BN Cab Review

gear-vault.com

The Vox AC50CPH head amp is a versatile powerhouse offering both vintage Vox charm and modern high-gain tones, perfect for those who found traditional Vox sounds outdated. With its robust features, including dual channels, independent EQs, and flexible output options, it captures the essence of Vox while delivering crushing tones for metal and hard rock. While the accompanying V412BN cabinet is decent, upgrading to speakers like Vox Alnico Blues could enhance treble and bass response. Overall, a solid choice for those seeking a unique Vox experience with modern flexibility.

A very interesting and versatile amp.

It took me a while to really understand and vibe with the AC50 CPH.

Channel 1 is a AC30 Top Boost with a Tone Cut and Channel 2 is a Plexi inspired channel.

The AC30 channel is exactly what you would expect from a Vox; chimey, bright and crystal clear. Nothing really more to say.

The second channel is what really stumped me and took me quite a while to really dial in. It is on the surface a Plexi Inspired British Distortion Channel, however the EQ is a bit odd. The Bass is quite intense and honestly a little flubby and benefits well from an EQ pedal and generous cutting back on the on-amp EQ. However once you slam enough boost and gain into it you can really pull off some of those classic 80's Plexi and JCM800 tones.

Sparkly clean

This is definitely not the amp for everyone, but I love the Vox clean tone and want as little of the overdriven break up sound that Vox amps are adored for as possible. This is the only amp that lets me get loud enough for live shows without introducing that breakup to my sound.
