Jimmy Page used the Vox UL730 amplifier for the first Led Zeppelin album, as noted in the description of the Dr. Robert "Whole Lotta Loud" pedal on Aclam's listing, which emphasizes the pedal's design inspired by Led Zeppelin and its recreation of the VOX UL730 amp sound.
I'm not sure if there are any quotes from him about the Vox UL730 amplifier which was one of the Vox Hybrid amplifiers made in England of the mid sixties, which George used starting sometime during the Rubber soul album, through Revolver, and Sgt. Pepper. Later the amp was auctioned off by Bonham's auction house where it fetched a pretty sum!!! here is a link to the info

According to Bispell Audio; "An incredibly authentic rendition of the Vox UL730 amplifier, with Vox Conqueror Mid Boost switch."
Left side: a faithful reinterpretation of the “Dr. Robert” vibe - originally inspired by the ultra-rare Vox UL 730 hybrid amp once used by the Beatles. Wide mid-sweep, crisp chime, and a dedicated, switchable, boost stage for full-on end-stage grit. The UL730 side adds external Bass and Treble controls that open up a broad tonal spectrum, as well as Mid and Gain controls that interact dynamically yielding everything from cutting presence to thick wwhooomp.
