Description

SA500 model from the Yamahas Hollow series has 1960s written all over it. From the big double-cut body and two-piece bridge, to dual humbucker pickups and 22-fret fingerboard. This affordable hollow-body comes with archtop construction and set in neck. Body of this gorgeous six-stringer is made of maple back, sides and top. Instead of the maple necks, Yamaha likes to combine the maple-made hollow-bodies with mahogany necks to add more strength and low end to the tone. Bridge section on this model is equipped with a tune-o-matic bridge in the front and a vintage tailpiece in the back. Yamaha humbuckers are in charge of the tone on SA500. Mahogany neck is made of a single piece of wood and its topped with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard.

Yamaha SA500 review | MusicRadar

The Yamaha SA500 is a standout affordable tribute to the classic ES-335 design, delivering solid sound and playability. Its unique aesthetic features and tidy construction are impressive for the price point. However, while unplugged tones can feel uninspiring with some buzzing issues, plugging it in unlocks its potential across various styles. The bridge pickup can be spiky, and excessive gain may lead to muddiness, but with careful setup, it shines in blues and rock genres. Overall, it’s a versatile instrument for those seeking an affordable entry into semi-hollow guitars.
