In this video Josh is rehersing with his Fender Custom Silver Stratocaster with a matching headstock. He had it made with a neck replicating his black strat ' gus ' which has a super skinny neck. He had a least three made with that neck, a silver, gold and pink.

"This is set for a different range. It's got a much more synthy and 70s sexy kind of thing," says Josh Klinghoffer's guitar tech about the Moog Moogerfooger Low-Pass Filter.
"A bit more reverb chunked on top of that with the Holy Grail if he feels like it," says Josh Klinghoffer's guitar tech.
"It's just like a crazy synth buzz with massive oscillation. So when he hits that you'll know all about it," says Josh Klinghoffer's guitar tech.
In a Premier Guitar Rig Rundown video, Josh Klinghoffer's guitar tech refers to the MXR M133 Micro Amp as "one of our dirty drives," highlighting its role in Klinghoffer's setup for the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
"We've got a 200-watt Marshall Major. A 1970 I think this one is, through 1972. 8x10, originally a 120-watt cab but I had to swap out the drivers for 40-watt Celestions because obviously it was probably likely that a 200-watt Major was going to cause it catch fire otherwise. Josh did say it sounded great, haha, but things often sound great just before they catch fire. Destruction sounds amazing," says Josh Klinghoffer's guitar tech.
"Josh uses D'Addario .010-.046s all across the board except on the Penguin, which we call 'Pingo'. It comes from a British animated TV series for kids. It has an animated penguin in it, he just spends his time hanging out in the ice and playing with his friends. He's called Pingo so the guitar is called Pingo. That one is .011-.049, again D'Addarios. Everything else is just as is, and then D'Addario's Standard 12-String sets. He's played them forever, he's happy with them," says Josh Klinghoffer's guitar tech.
