Owner Insights

We analyzed real musician discussions from forums and Reddit to find what players love, question, and tweak about Allen & Heath Xone:K2.

Features and functionality

  • The built-in soundcard is versatile, but some users find the audio quality lacking compared to dedicated interfaces like the RME Babyface Pro.

    Source
  • The controller's MIDI channels are global, with no software available to customize button behavior, limiting flexibility in complex setups.

    Source
  • LEDs offer only three colors and lack advanced feedback options like gradual fading, which might limit visual customization.

    Source

Comparisons

  • The Xone:K2 offers more control options than the Kontrol X1, as it can map to all four effect units in Traktor, unlike the X1's two.

    Source

User experience

  • Transport and setup are hassle-free with a lightweight plastic body and a hardshell EVA case that doubles as a stand, ideal for travel.

    Source

Build quality

  • The rubber coating on buttons can become sticky over time, but cleaning with acetone and a cloth resolves this issue effectively.

Great MIDI controller, I use it for studio and used it to control Traktor

I bought this controller (2x) for a Traktor setup. I don't really play with Traktor in clubs anymore, so I now use one for automations in Ableton. Works like a charm, never had a single problem with it.

Good enough

Really flexible MIDI controller with many layers. I don't like that it's not native for almost any software. It is easy to map, but sometimes I just like things that are plug and go.

Versatile DJ mixer with extensive MIDI control options

This is my main and amazing Mixer i use when DJing, 4 channel mixer capabilities with an inbuilt soundcard for improved sound performance. With over 150 possible midi controls with the use of latching layers i can map anything i want at my own disposal and expand the creativity and professionalism of my DJ sets with this compact, slim but very powerful controller.

love that i was able to map them myself to how i dj. these things are the shit

kemilc

2 k2's and a mixer, you're done !

The amount of configurations makes it ideal for combining with a mixer and Traktor... Even for mixing alone with it by itself, remains very useful.

"My DJ setup is laptop, Ableton live and Allen & Heath K2 midi controller with four channels running into an Allen & Heath Xone 92 mixer. My live set is all of that plus an additional K2 controller, some outboard effects, a Korg Monotron delay and often a drum machine (Korg Volca Beats or MFB-522)."
