Description

Unleash the full potential of your microphone collection with the ART Digital MPA, a powerhouse in studio recording gear. This versatile preamp is designed for discerning musicians and producers who demand nothing but excellence. At the heart of the Digital MPA lies unique tube circuitry featuring two 12AX7A vacuum tubes that deliver pristine detail and clarity across a broad spectrum of microphones.

The ART Digital MPA offers a selectable tube plate voltage function, allowing you to explore a wide array of tonal options. Whether you're looking for that warm vintage sound or a more modern edge, this preamp has you covered. With a differential tube circuit, it provides the equivalent of a 300V power supply in its high voltage setting, ensuring low distortion and noise.

Connectivity is a breeze with the Digital MPA's extensive range of analog and digital outputs, including AES/EBU, S/PDIF, TOSLINK, and ADAT interfaces. This makes it easy to integrate with your existing setup. The preamp is capable of 24-bit processing and can be adjusted from 44.1 to 96KHz, or synced with ADAT or external word clocks.

One of the standout features of the Digital MPA is its Variable Input Impedance, which is infinitely adjustable. This allows you to tailor the preamp's response to any microphone, whether it’s a vintage ribbon or a modern condenser, unlocking new sonic possibilities and enhancing your recording experience.

Key Features:

  • Variable Input Impedance (150 Ohms to 3000 Ohms) for versatile microphone interaction
  • Selectable Tube Plate Voltage for diverse tonal options
  • Large VU Meters and Peak-Hold LED Meters for precise monitoring
  • Discrete Class A Input Microphone Preamplifier for superior sound quality
  • Front accessible instrument input with automatic switching
  • Wide frequency response with lower noise and THD than its predecessors

ART Digital MPA

soundonsound.com

The ART Digital MPA delivers solid performance with its versatile tube circuitry and variable input impedance, making it a noteworthy contender in the budget mic preamp market. Its digital output capabilities, including ADAT support, add significant value for modern recording setups. However, the absence of a headphone output is a notable oversight for some users. While it achieves commendable sound quality, especially at standard sample rates, the higher resolutions may not yield substantial improvements without more sophisticated converters. Ultimately, this preamp is a great all-rounder for those seeking a blend of affordability and tonal flexibility.
