Made with love and dedication
I've owned this since version 1, and it's been a pleasure to see it slowly improve over the years. I have yet to compare it to a real 303 or Roland Cloud's 303, but it's musical and engaging and gives back more than you put into it.
Good: Sounds a heck of a lot like a 303. crazy submenu parameters allow you to dial in exactly the resonance and waveform characteristics you want. Contains a vast library of patterns, including note-for-note versions of many acid classics. It has a wave analyzer for automatically transcribing patterns (never tried this, but damn...). It's a quality single-developer effort that is always kept up to date and priced fairly... so you can feel good about giving AudioRealism your money; they always answer my questions promptly and thoroughly.
Bad: Real 303s still sound slightly SLIGHTLY better to my ears, but in the virtual domain, ABL has always represented the closest one can get in software. It's good enough; If you can't write great acid patterns with this, that's on you, not AudioRealism. ;)

My favorite TB-303 emulation
I use this plugin constantly, because Acid music is what I do.
If you want to make Acid tracks for real Acid heads, you can't get away with sound design in your bread-and-butter synth you use for everything else. Don't even think of wasting time with sound design tutorials claiming to create a 303 in you favorite synth on YouTube or elsewhere. You need a synth specifically designed to replicate the unique sound of the TB-303, otherwise your acid lines won't fly with "Acid gourmets". Here comes AL3 in.
ABL3 sounds super close to the real thing. It sounds great by plain or with distortion. Most people won't be able to tell the difference. I have several clones, which are also really close to a TB-303, but ABL3 is great in productions, because you can save your settings with the project and you can use as many instances of a 303 you want to go full Hardfloor. ;)
Great plugin. It's a 10 out of 5 for me!
Preferred Settings + Usage:
Always use the built in sequencer and make use of accents and slides. Even though the Cut Off knob has the most impact, use the other knobs to make it more interesting. 3 or 6 step off beat sequences are really fun. Use a panning plugin to let people's heads spin. Really good with distortion, delay and/or reverb, of course.

"Acid on acid. ABL3 through a thermionic culture vulture." The plugin, although his screen is very distorted, can somewhat be seen in this Instagram video
I was going to ask what plug-ins are you particularly mad about, if you’d care the drop some names…
Well, we did a lot of back-and-forth testing of all the classic drum machine and bassline plug-ins. For us the D16 plug-ins for the 808 and 909 were the best ones out there. But for the 303 bass lines, I wasn’t actually a big fan of the D16s and for that I really liked the Audio Realism. What else? I’m a big fan of – still - the Native Instrument KONTAKT as a sampler
"Besides the 303 for my acid stuff, I use ABL. I mostly use the internal plugins from Ableton..."
"The main acid lines are made with Audiorealism ABL3 and we also used their drums in part. The more original sounds perhaps were made with Tone2’s Icarus using the ‘3D Wavetable’ functionality and other layers using UVI’s Falcon synth which is incredibly versatile"
Sometimes I use the actual 303 on my acid tracks. For ‘Selecta’ I used the ABL3 software plug-in. When making acid tracks, I don’t use my hardware, I spend a lot of time with plug-ins to make the virtual 303 sound as authentic as possible.
“Another one that reminds me of the analogue era. When I first heard the software 303s, I didn’t think they were quite as deep as the real thing, but these days… I cannot tell the difference. I was talking to Richie Hawtin about this, and even he says that the plugins are getting it right.”
