Description
Unleash your inner alchemist with the Bogner Alchemist 112, a combo amp that seamlessly blends vintage charm with modern versatility. This 40-watt all-tube amplifier is a sonic powerhouse, offering two distinct channels that cater to a wide range of tonal possibilities. Whether you're in search of crystal-clear cleans or soaring, saturated leads, the Alchemist 112 delivers with precision and style.
Powered by a robust 6L6 Class AB power section and five 12AX7 preamp tubes, this amp is designed to capture the essence of classic tube tones while providing the flexibility today's musicians demand. Channel 1 offers a sparkling clean sound that evolves into bluesy warmth with the flick of a switch, while Channel 2 delivers Bogner's signature high-gain sound — creamy and sustaining, perfect for everything from rock to modern metal.
The Alchemist 112's Celestion 12" speaker ensures every note is articulated with clarity and depth, whether you're on stage or in the studio. Its selectable power section lets you toggle between 40 watts and a more intimate 20 watts, transforming its harmonic profile and giving you the freedom to craft your perfect sound.
Add to that a suite of onboard effects, including reverb and delay, which run in parallel to preserve the integrity of your original tone. The included 4-button footswitch offers seamless control over channel selection, boost, delay, and reverb, making this amp as easy to command as it is to enjoy.

The dirty channel is likened to a classic Marshall tone, especially effective without "thump mode," offering a more open, cranked amp feel.

Great Bogner sound in a lower price range
This all-tube amp is the little brother to the famous Bogner Uberschall's and Shiva's and Ecstasy's (and these amps are famous for a reason - they sound tremendous). What's different about this amp is that it's a step back from the boutique, hand-wired glory of its bigger siblings, and instead focuses on ease of manufacturing and good tone at a lower cost. I will say that it doesn't sound quite as good as the other, more expensive Bogners (obviously), but it certainly delivers more than any other combo amp in its price range, with the ability to give great, sparkly cleans all the way up to hard rock and metal. I primarily use it to play prog rock, which is one of those genres that demands a pretty high level of flexibility from your gear when it comes to guitar tones. This amp handles pedals extremely well, and even has a buffered FX loop. Overall, you really can't beat this amp for the price. It has tons of great tube tone and a great-sounding speaker to go with it.

its not ALL tube, it has digital effects.... but I tried one and the whole package sounds good. I just wonder how reliable the digital fx are on the gig.

Oh, yeah, I guess I didn't really think about those. I have a full pedalboard that I use for all of my effects, anyway, so I actually never use the digital effects. On my model (the original one from several years ago), there's only a tap delay and reverb; I don't know if that's changed on the newer models now that they're working with Line6. I'd suggest finding one of the older Alchemists used somewhere and getting that, because they'll be cheaper and my amp has been a trooper through many gigs and recording sessions.

I don't think Bogner changed the effects section. Its just delay and verb last time I saw an alchemist in a store. Still, even if you are not using the FX on a gig, these are PCB amps and if the DSP goes down it could take your whole amp out depending on how Reinhold integrated those chips into the circuitboard. That said, the alchemist seems to be a great value n boutique channel switching amps.
