Critic Reviews

Bose Computer MusicMonitor review | What Hi-Fi?

whathifi.com

The Bose Computer MusicMonitor delivers a well-balanced sound with impressive clarity in the mids and highs, and minimal distortion, making it a portable and stylish desktop audio solution. However, its compact size limits bass output and dynamic range, offering a smaller soundstage compared to rivals. The minimalist design is visually appealing, though the lack of features like Bluetooth and a basic remote control are notable drawbacks. Priced at a premium, it may not offer the best value, but it provides quality tuning that makes it enjoyable for casual listening.

Bose Computer MusicMonitor (silver) review: Bose Computer MusicMonitor (silver) - CNET

cnet.com

The Bose Computer MusicMonitor impresses with its compact, stylish design and delivers surprisingly robust sound for its size, making it a good fit for those prioritizing aesthetics and minimal desk space. However, at $400, it’s a steep investment for limited performance—no headphone jack and sound quality that struggles with higher volumes, particularly in movies and games. For this price, larger alternatives offer superior audio fidelity, though they lack the Bose’s sleek form factor. Ideal for style-conscious buyers willing to pay for petite elegance over sheer audio prowess.

Bose Computer MusicMonitor review: Bose Computer MusicMonitor - CNET

cnet.com

The Bose Computer MusicMonitor speakers deliver a compact design with excellent build quality and clear vocal presence, ideal for enhancing laptop audio. However, their high price tag and lack of subwoofer output limit their suitability for bass-heavy music, games, or action movies. While they shine in vocal clarity, they fall short on delivering deep bass, making them less versatile compared to similarly priced alternatives. Overall, a niche upgrade with notable limitations.

Review: Bose Computer MusicMonitors Are Rocking – On my Om

om.co

The Bose Computer MusicMonitor impresses with its compact design, sharp sound quality, and powerful bass for its size, making it a perfect match for Mac users. However, the $399 price tag is steep, especially when considering the need for an AC input and potential dissatisfaction with low frequencies through a CD drive. While its design and sound clarity are praised, the value proposition is questioned against cheaper alternatives. If aesthetics and portability are priorities, this could be a top pick, but audiophiles may find better sound quality elsewhere for the price.

"Bose" and "monitor" in the same sentence? Why not?

I simply did not have enough room in my "bedroom" for anything bigger than this, and I promise the sound is great and not too Bose-y. Despite the size, low freqs are catered for, too, and everything has a good degree of punch for a small room. I keep the KRK Rokit in another bedroom :-)
