Description

Unlock the potential of your sonic explorations with the Buchla Ziggy Desktop Instrument Module, a groundbreaking fusion of classic Buchla innovation and modern convenience. Designed to be a patch-free powerhouse, the Ziggy lets you dive into an intuitive world of gestural music creation, perfect for both seasoned synth veterans and curious newcomers. At its core, the Cycler equips you with a versatile hybrid of clock, envelope, and LFO capabilities, allowing you to craft complex waveforms and modulations that can transform your soundscapes.

The Ziggy is built around a state-of-the-art analog complex oscillator, delivering rich sine waves that you can morph into a variety of shapes using FM and AM modulation, wavefolding, and waveform blending. Accompanied by a Sallen-Key lowpass gate, which doubles as a VCA and filter, this module offers a unique approach to envelope shaping and sonic experimentation.

Connectivity is a breeze with comprehensive MIDI support, along with CV, gate, and 1-volt-per-octave pitch integration, making it compatible with Eurorack setups and DAWs alike. With more than 100 presets and a suite of digital effects, including reverb, delay, and chorus, the Ziggy provides endless possibilities for sound design. Conveniently powered over USB-C and housed in an eye-catching oak-and-steel enclosure, this module is as stylish as it is functional.

“An ‘instrument’ rather than a ‘synthesizer’”: Buchla Ziggy is a desktop analogue West Coast synth available for (just) under $1000 | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

Buchla Ziggy excites with its blend of classic West Coast synthesis and modern accessibility, making Buchla's iconic sound more affordable at under $1000. This desktop monosynth offers an inviting interface with complex oscillators, a wavefolder, and a low-pass gate for deep sound sculpting. While it lacks modular patching, its digital control over analog components and comprehensive modulation routing make it versatile. However, its non-modular nature might deter purists seeking a more traditional Buchla experience. Overall, Ziggy stands out as an innovative and approachable instrument for adventurous sound explorers.

Buchla Ziggy: the complex oscillator gets a friendly standalone synth - CDM Create Digital Music

cdm.link

Ziggy brings Buchla's complex oscillator magic into a user-friendly, standalone synth format. This compact marvel retains the signature Buchla hands-on experience while adding modern conveniences like preset saving and web MIDI editing. Touted as a potential game-changer in the monosynth arena, Ziggy offers a rich feature set that includes analog oscillators, a versatile low-pass gate, and a digital effects section. While the lack of an onboard keyboard may deter some, its compatibility with various MIDI controllers makes up for it. Paired with the LEM218, Ziggy is a visually appealing and financially enticing bundle. It's poised to be a hit at Superbooth, capturing the essence of Buchla in a portable form.
