Description

The Plug Ugly Contact Microphone Piezo Transducer Pickup by Crank Sturgeon

The Pick up Tappo Piezo Contact Microfono / Piezo Transducer Pickup is a contact microphone that uses a piezoelectric transducer to convert vibrations from solid surfaces (e.g., acoustic instrument bodies, metal, wood, percussion) into an electrical signal. These pickups do not capture air-borne sound like conventional mics instead, they detect vibration energy where they are physically attached. They are often used for experimental sound, noise music, field recording of mechanical vibration, or amplification of acoustic instruments without internal mics.

Contact mics of this style are very popular in DIY, experimental, and modular synth setups because they can capture unusual and subtle textures that traditional microphones don’t. Piezo contact pickups are passive devices they don’t generally require power, but they do have very high impedance and limited frequency response unless used with an appropriate preamp or impedance matcher. Piezo transducer element converts vibration into electrical signal passively.Contact pickup design optimized to sense mechanical vibrations directly from surfaces. 1/4″ (6.35 mm) output compatibility works with guitar cables, instrument preamps, interfaces, modular gear. Passive device no battery required.Flexible mounting options can be attached with tape, putty, mounting adhesive, or held in place. Rugged and simple construction few moving parts and typically durable.
