It's not called Eurocrack for nothing but it is the best thing ever for the right person
No matter what kind of synthesis, or effects processing, or sequencing or drum machines you like, you can probably do it better with a Eurorack modular. You will also pay a hefty premium to do so. You are also going to have to sink some time to get good results. If you want instant results, or preset sounds, this is not for you. If you want the most flexible, open ended, infinitely upgradeable system imaginable, are tired of being stuck in a computer screen with your only UI as a mouse, if you have option-itis from thousands of plugins that usually suck, and wish there was a tactile, hands-on, 1 to 1 physical control, with routing that you design every step of the way, that sounds frigging amazing, then this might be for you. Are you ok with never being able to reproduce the sound you made last month? last week? yesterday? 10 seconds ago? You cannot be attached or it might drive you mad. If you want to experiment, and roam free with no limits and care more about the journey than any final product, and the rest of the profile is true, then you might have an obsession awaiting you.
My current rig configuration is always documented here: https://www.modulargrid.net/e/racks/view/179898

interesting, deep, and capable
Infinitely interesting, deep, and capable; a pure joy to anybody obsessed with exploring synthesis. In addition to typical monophonic synths- this format is capable of creating standalone FX units, mixers, sequencers, video synthesis, and/or all manner of voltage controlled processing utilities.

"My go-to stuff is primarily my 5U modular system and my Eurorack modular system. On both of those I'm able to get tones and sounds for almost every movie, that's totally what that is. All of the other pieces of gear that I have, it totally depends on what the project is. For instance on Tomb Raider, I actually used a lot the Korg—it's like a half-modular system—the PS-3200 and the PS-3300. I have them retrofitted with Kenton, so I can access them by MIDI."
"Nowadays my setup consists of a giant eurorack modular (8 rows @104 hp, ever growing and changing), Waldorf Micro Q Keyboard, Kawai K5000s, Elektron Octatrack, Analog RYTM, and Digitakt, and a revolving door of other little things that come in and out."
"I started to build a Eurorack Modular Rig last year with some help from Josh Humphrey of Big City Music here in LA. What you see there in yellow is the Metasonix Vacuum Distortion module. Yes, real working tubes. True Clipping. It's good stuff. The modular was used for a lot of more FX type of sounds. Since there's no way to ‘save a patch', you never know what you going to get next. Some sounds of it you can hear in our Character creation theme."
The biggest change in my studio in recent years has been the addition of (and addiction to) the Eurorack modular system, which I’ve already sold off some of my vintage stuff to finance.
Gear list: Access Virus TI, Moog Sub 37, Yamaha DX7, Waldorf Microwave I rev a, Yamaha TG77, Roland JV2080, Kawai K5000R, Oberheim Matrix 1000, UAD Apollo, Eurorack with Mutable Instruments & Intellijel, Valhalla Vintage Verb, Waves H-Delay, Ableton Live 10.x
