Fender Player II Telecaster review – the best affordable Tele?

guitar.com

Fender's Player II Telecaster HH is a noteworthy upgrade, boasting fantastic playability and classic Tele tones that are hard to resist. The rolled fingerboard edges enhance comfort, making it a joy to play right out of the box. While the guitar's aesthetics have been thoughtfully refined, it does have a few drawbacks: the action is slightly high on some samples, and the omission of a gig bag may catch new buyers off guard. However, for those who appreciate a reliable workhorse at an affordable price, this Telecaster is a compelling choice that elevates the original Player model into something truly special.

Fender Player Series II Telecaster Review and Demo – Guitars For Idiots

guitarsforidiots.com

This review highlights the Fender Player II Telecaster HH as a strong contender in the iconic Tele family, boasting premium features like rolled edges and a solid Alder body. The crisp, twangy sound and enhanced feel make it a joy to play, especially for rhythm guitarists. While the tuning stability is average, it holds up well under pressure. However, at $799.99, it’s pricier than its predecessors, which may deter budget-conscious players. Despite this, the aesthetics and neck quality are impressive, making it a worthy upgrade for those seeking a reliable performer. Overall, it’s a solid choice for both new and seasoned players, though it may not dazzle everyone.

"A strong statement from Fender in 2024 about accessibility and quality": Fender Player II Telecaster and Stratocaster review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

Fender's Player II Telecaster HH strikes a strong balance between accessibility and quality, largely impressing with its fantastic neck and versatile pickups. While the return to rosewood fingerboards is a welcome upgrade, the absence of a gig bag feels a tad stingy. However, minor quality control issues, such as nut depth problems, detract slightly from an otherwise solid instrument. The Telecaster remains a superb choice for those seeking a dependable all-rounder, making it an ideal first guitar investment. Overall, the Player II series reaffirms Fender's commitment to providing great value without sacrificing performance.

WHAT A GUITAR!!!

I can't believe the unmatched quality of every aspect of this new player series 2... has a beautiful darker stained maple neck than the original player which makes it look more high end. But with the rolled fretboard, the special kind pickups they have created that have the humbucker beef with the classic fender brightness and clarity still there somehow. That and the upgraded classic tuners which hold great. This does every kind of genre you could think of, and it does it in its own unique and somehow perfect way make thisngui feel like an american version. It's like a fender les paul, and it doesn't have the darkness of a les paul, maybe because of the mahogany vs the Woods fender use, or just the way its voiced, whatever it is it has a clarity and brightness that a les paul doesn't. A les paul may be more creamy but you can dial that in easily with the tone knob on the fender. I love it, and it's my no.1 guitar for everything!!

Preferred Settings + Usage:

Neck and fingerboard/frets are so well rounded and smooth. Very very meticulous job done on every part of the guitar. Amazing slightly overwound but lower output classic PAF style, absolutely gorgeous sounding pickups. Good enough for recording easily and live for sure. It just feels like a guitar 3-4 times it's value. Just sublime!

Amazing First 'Real' Guitar

Great guitar for all tones. Does classic rock, metal, shoegaze and more incredibly well for the price. Particulary like its 90s Grunge sound
